Suh Kang Ei Hyung

41 movements – named after the grand master, Suh Jang Kang, his second form.

Techniques:

  1. Double knife hand block to the left in a right back stance.
  2. Open into a front stance with a back punch.
  3. Stepping into a back stance, execute a high round house, setting the foot down in front.
  4. Execute a back kick, setting the foot down in front.
  5. Execute a single knife hand block.
  6. Remaining in the same back stance, execute a back punch to 45 degrees.
  7. (Repeat above 6 steps in other direction.) Step to the right into a double knife hand block in a left back stance.
  8. Open into a front stance with a back punch.
  9. Stepping into a back stance, execute a high round house, setting the foot down in front.
  10. Execute a back kick, setting the foot down in front.
  11. Execute a single knife hand block.
  12. Remaining in the same back stance, execute a back punch to 45 degrees.
  13. Step forward into a front stance toward the front of the room, execute a low block.
  14. In the same stance, execute a high block.
  15. In the same stance, execute a high punch.
  16. Step into a back stance, execute a high round house kick, setting the foot down in front.
  17. Step forward, execute a hook kick, setting the foot down in front.
  18. Step forward, execute a high round house kick, setting the foot down in front into a left back stance.
  19. In that same stance, execute an inner palm block followed quickly by a low block.
  20. In that same stance, execute a back punch to 45 degrees. Ki-hap.
  21. Turn around into a front stance, executing a front block.
  22. In the same stance, execute a back punch.
  23. Shift to a right back stance, execute a round house, setting the foot down in front.
  24. Execute a jump side kick with the right leg, bringing the kicking foot back to just behind the left foot.
  25. Execute a front side kick with the left leg, setting down into a back stance.
  26. Execute a round house, setting the foot down in front into a left back stance.
  27. In the same stance, execute a low block.
  28. In the same stance, execute a high block.
  29. In the same stance, execute a back punch to 45 degrees. Ki-hap.
  30. Double knife hand block to the left in a right back stance.
  31. Open into a front stance with a back punch.
  32. Stepping into a back stance, execute a high round house, setting the foot down in front.
  33. Execute a back kick, setting the foot down in front.
  34. Execute a single knife hand block.
  35. Remaining in the same back stance, execute a back punch to 45 degrees.
  36. (Repeat above 6 steps in other direction.) Step to the right into a double knife hand block in a left back stance.
  37. Open into a front stance with a back punch.
  38. Stepping into a back stance, execute a high round house, setting the foot down in front.
  39. Execute a back kick, setting the foot down in front.
  40. Execute a single knife hand block.
  41. Remaining in the same back stance, execute a back punch to 45 degrees.

Hints:

  • Some traditionally front stance blocks are executed in a back stance. To remember these, the blocks at the end of a line are all in the back stance. The blocks at the beginning of a line are in the front stance.
  • Just like Suh Kang Il Hyung, the opening sequence is repeated in both directions and at the beginning and end of the form. A big difference, is that the forward and backward movements are different.
